Glee: Ashley Fink’s Role May Be Greatly Reduced

According to TV Line,   Ashley Fink, who plays the tough, sarcastic Lauren Zizes on Glee, will have her role drastically reduced after the series premiere.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that Ashley Fink’s screen time will be drastically reduced following the Sept. 20 season premiere, which finds her recurring (and somewhat polarizing) character, Lauren Zizes, abruptly [MAJOR SPOILER ALERT] quitting New Directions and breaking up with her steady beau Puck (Mark Saling), who spent much of Season 2 wooing the demanding, plus-sized tough girl.

Indeed, Ashley was conspicuously absent from the season 3 class portraits, and the series spoilers have her mostly not on set, as the Glee kids have been filming episodes. Currently, the gang is in the midst of shooting episode 4 with Adam Shankman at the helm.

But you never know–Ashley’s absence could be a temporary development. She dominated the back 9 in Season 2, but remember–she didn’t come on board regularly until Episode 9, after Kurt (Chris Colfer) left McKinley High as part of the bullying story arc. Before that, Ashley had been a guest star off and on throughout Season 1 and 2.

As a Glee insider told TV Line, “It’s odd to go from being the ‘It Girl’ last season to getting tossed on the backburner. But this is Glee. Just when everyone thinks she’s out, they may pull her back in.” Another source said as a recurring player, Lauren’s storyline comes and goes much the same way Karofsky’s (Max Adler) does. (By the way, Max has tweeted he has yet to be called to set.)

So, I would not write Ashley completely out of the picture yet.
