When I posted the preview stream of the Glee Christmas track “Do They Know It’s Christmas” we had quite the lively discussion about whether it was cool for Glee to sing a song for profit that was initially intended to benefit charity.
Many of you will be happy to learn that Glee issued a press release today announcing that 100% of the net monies from the sales of the Glee version of the song will go to The Band Aid Trust (www.bandaid.org.uk ), the charity that was created to receive the proceeds of the original charity single.
“Do They Know It’s Christmas?” will be featured on this Tuesday’s Glee.
Glee Video Previews: Extraordinary Merry Christmas
The Band Aid Trust, a registered British charity since 1985, has raised in excess of 190 million dollars to support projects designed to make a lasting difference in Ethiopia, Somalia and surrounding countries in East Africa.
