After announcing her move to Los Angeles on social media last month, Grace spoke with MassLive, a news site based in Boston, and shared her thoughts on leaving behind both her hometown in Chicago and Berklee where she was studying music in Boston.
Grace moved out of Chicago and Boston at the same time!
At the time of the interview, Grace was in Chicago, helping her mother pack up the house they lived in with their late father for the past 20 years. Simultaneously she was moving out of her place in Boston where she had been attending the Berklee College of Music. She describes leaving Berklee as “taking a break.”

Amid all the activity, Grace took a moment to share her excitement about moving to Los Angeles to begin her career as a recording artist.
Grace looks forward to writing music with experienced artists
As far as what’s next, Grace is excited to meet and work with people in the music industry and “make it happen.”
“I’m most excited about getting in the room with a lot of different people,” Grace told MassLive, “And writing with people who are more experienced than I am.” The singer has already released two EPs, so what comes next is a continuation of a journey she’s been on for awhile.
“I have written songs, I’m still writing,” Grace said, “But to be able to take songs that I want to release but aren’t quite ready yet [and give] to somebody who has been doing this for longer and has more experience with it, I’m excited for that.”
She can’t wait to perform live shows
Grace is looking forward to “grow and learn” from experienced people in the music business. And to get her music released. “I have a lot of stuff that I’m excited to release and share,” she says, “that’s a little bit more about myself and my story.” She’s excited to do live shows, which she promised MassLive are in the works. “I’m excited to connect to more people through my music,” she said.
Check out the interview below. She also talks about her American Idol experience, and how she felt about coming in third behind winner Chayce Beckham and runner-up Willie Spence. For Grace, she just wanted to make it to hometown shows and the finale. Anything beyond that was extra!
