It had to happen. In the wake of her split with husband, Gavin Rossdale, back in August, Gwen Stefani has released a break up song.
“Used to Love You” finds The Voice coach angsty and crying in her new video, in which she pulls sad and angry faces, culminating in re-creating some sort of breakdown. At various times the singer looks like she’s smelled something bad, about to have a seizure, and/or posing for a Vogue cover. Sorry for the snark, but did she like, just pull out her camera phone and start making faces into it?
I’ll stop now. Heartbreak is a real thing, and Gwen seems to have plenty of it. Sample lyric:
“Never thought this would happen / Gotta let it sink in, you’re gone. You can keep all the memories / I thought I was the best thing that ever happened to you / I thought you loved me the most.”
Sads.
“I don’t know why I cry / But I think it’s cause I remembered for the first time / Since I hated you / That I used to love you.”
It doesn’t look like the two will be moving on as friends, unfortunately. And we just figured you two crazy kids were going to go the distance.
