Yesterday was a holiday in the States. I want to say President’s Day. In any event, the folks at HDD are avid fans of holidays, so there were no updates yesterday. We’ll get the full chart today.
Despite that, we can easily predict that Eric Church will have the number one debut and album of the week. He is crushing the competition with 280-300K in sales. It will be the biggest week for an album since December. Far behind him is the Soundtrack to “Frozen” selling their usual 85-95K. The movie is falling down the box office charts, but that album sells the same amount week after week. Intriguing.
There are no solo reality singing competition contestant albums on the chart, but Now 49 features X-Factor’s One Direction and Simone Battle (as part of G.R.L.). Now 49 is also having a strong week and is experiencing a relatively small drop in its second week. The rest of the chart looks like what you would expect during the heart of February. You see a bit of a boost from non-chocolate/non-flower gift givers opting for a CD. R. Kelly. Ugh.
