With 68.46% of reports in, Frozen has been unseated at the top of the chart. That’s not because it’s selling any less this week (it is probably selling more). It’s just because Now 50 is outselling it. Now 50 has been taking over from K-Tel records for a long time and now it is celebrating its 50th edition. There are no Idols, X-Factorers or Voicers on the main album (I don’t think there has ever been a Voicer on Now), but the deluxe edition features Idols Kelly Clarkson (“Stronger”) and Carly Rae Jepsen (“Call Me Maybe).
Frozen, of course, is lurking in second. Just waiting. Watching and waiting. Then there are lots of debuts. Hunter Hayes (who was often mentioned here in the beginning of his career) is in 3rd, Sarah McLachlan (often covered on Idol) is 4th, Tech N9ne (Rap) is 6th, “Music of Nashville, S2” (which we cover here) is 8th, Lily Allen is 9th and Atmosphere (wiki says: Hip Hop) is 10th. Luke Bryan and Pharrell Williams are the only other hold outs in the top 10 (where they live) at 5th and 7th.
Now 49 features X-Factorers One Direction. Meanwhile, judges Blake, Shakira and Keith make the top 50.
