With 47.18% of reports in, Daft Punk get’s lucky and their “Random Access Memories” goes for its second week at the top of the BB200 chart. Alice in Chains, an Alt Metal band out of Seattle, is currently the top debut in second and expected to stay there.
UK’s first “band” winner of the X-Factor, Little Mix are releasing their album in the states and are currently in 3rd. They are expected to switch places with John Fogerty by the time the dust and numbers settle, but their 45-50K in sales is pretty good all things considered. Their lead single, “Wings”, hasn’t really taken off (despite being featured on a lot of shows) and, in fact, tumbled off the Pop charts this week. Cher Lloyd and Olly Murs also both from the X-Factor had singles in better positions when they released but only moved 15-20k and 25-30k respectively in their opening frames.
The Great Gatsby flaps to another top 5 finish though the pundits are predicting Darius Rucker (formerly Hootie) will slide into the top 5 from 9th by the final update. Imagine Dragons (introduced outside of their Indie Rock enclave to the general public by Glee) is 6th. Meanwhile, Blake Shelton has found his groove and is not going to budge from it because it is WORKING for him on all fronts. He is in the same position as last week – 8th. The-Dream, an R&B Artist perhaps better known for the hits he has written (Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”, Bieber’s “Baby” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella”) rounds out the top 10.
Idols? There are two. Season 3 winner Fantasia and Season 11 winner Phillip are side-by-side at 48th and 49th. Olly Murs and One D from X-Factor are featured on Now 46 at 21st.
