American Idol alums make themselves at home in Henderson – If you thought you were hearing a rerun of “American Idol” booming from the Preston Fine Arts Center on Thursday, your ears weren’t playing tricks on you. Former American Idol Contestants to Perform Tonight – Music Director of Friday’s show Michael Orland, who previously worked for American Idol during its 15-season run, said the show will be unique because the four performers from various seasons have “never performed together before.” Orland said the audience can expect original songs and songs artists sung on American Idol television show and will alternate between solos, duets and group songs. “It’s really amazing to come together and do this like this,” Orland said. “We’re going to keep it kind of informal, so they’re just all going to sit on stage, and they’re going to sing backgrounds for each other. ” Like Orland, Allen said the thing that makes the show special is that it will be informal. – Read more at Surfkey.com

Danny Gokey beats ‘Idol’ stigma, depression – In 2012 he married Leyicet Peralta and a year later the new couple welcomed their first child. Peralta’s parents moved into their home for much-needed help with their new son. At the time, Gokey had $40 in the bank. Gokey said he put “all of my eggs in one basket,” praying his first Christian album “Hope In Front of Me” would be a success. “I got on my knees and said, ‘God, what is going on?’” the singer recalled. Soon after, his agents found a check for $2,500 that been lost in their system for three years. “We went to Costco that day and Leyicet was like, ‘We’ve got to be careful with this money,’” Danny Gokey recalled. “I said, ‘Nope, God is buying.’ We went all over the place. We bought a washer. We bought tons of food and ever since that moment, things have progressed in such a beautiful way. And, now we’re here.” – Read more at The Tennessean
