‘American Idol’ auditions underway – he first contestants for the “American Idol” auditions today at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame have performed. Following an opening ceremony that included Kerry Underwood, Tuscumbia’s mayor, not Carrie Underwood, the first American Idol winner, contestants began making their way to four tents set up outside the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. The performers are getting an opportunity to earn a spot on the popular television show. Officials said there were nearly 200 people lined up outside the Music Hall of Fame on U.S. 72 in Tuscumbia by 5 a.m. Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan said by 9 a.m. the crowd had grown to nearly 1,000 people. – Read more at Times Daily
Shoals has caught Idol fever – Dixie Griffin was at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame where she is director several months ago when she received an odd phone call.
