David Archuleta to judge local singers during “The Vocalist” competition in August – Aspiring singers now have the chance to audition for singer/songwriter David Archuleta via the annual Fall River Rural Electric “The Vocalist” competition. Any singer, age 12 and up — and from anywhere — is invited to audition for the event from now through 10 p.m., May 7, by logging on to the competition’s website at vocalistusa.com. Singers may register there and upload a video of themselves singing two, two-minute a cappella (without accompaniment) tunes of any genre. From there, Archuleta and fellow judges will review the entries and decide who will move on to the next stage of the competition. ‘Idol’s’ Everhart starting band – Gluckstadt’s Hannah Everhart, who was recently eliminated from “American Idol” after reaching the Top 24, said her musical journey has only just begun. The young singer is already putting together a band and she also hopes to do studio recordings and get her music produced in the near future.“‘American Idol’ gave me a huge platform,” Everhart said. “Even though I’m still getting a band together and just starting with my gigs, I’m not starting entirely from ground zero. Hollywood Docket: Ponzi Scheme Investor Suit; ‘MacGyver’ Profits Trial, ‘American Idol’ Injury – A California appeals court says the American Idol contestant agreement is not unconscionable. The context for the decision on April 20 is a 14th season contestant whose ear drum was injured by in-ear equipment on set. Unfortunately for him, he signed a liability release. While he argued for the unconsionability of the agreement because it was a “take-it-or-leave-it” deal, the appellate judges say he had weeks to review, could have taken it to an attorney for advice, that his participation in the show didn’t involve public policy to the extent alleged negligence couldn’t be excused by contract, and so on.
