Jennifer Hudson to Receive Chairman’s Award at Palm Springs Film Festival – Jennifer Hudson, who portrayed Aretha Franklin in the biopic “Respect” earlier this year, will be the recipient of the Chairman’s Award at this year’s Palm Springs International Film Festival. Hudson was previously honored with the Breakthrough Performance Award at the festival in 2007 following her work in “Dreamgirls.” She joins other past honorees of the Chairman’s Award including Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Regina King, Gary Oldman, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
