Catching up with Crystal Bowersox – As a Lilly Diabetes ambassador, Bowersox is part of the introduction team for the Lilly Camp Care Package program that includes a backpack and diabetes educational tools. Lilly introduced the first commercial insulin in 1923. Bowersox was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 6 years old. A native of Northwest Ohio, she attended Hot Shot Camp as an elementary school student. She was back at the camp on Monday, performing a solo acoustic set, then making crafts, signing autographs and speaking about her own experiences growing up diabetic. Bowersox then sat down for an interview and talked about her role with Lilly Diabetes, her music and how she has not let diabetes hold her back from living out her dreams. – Read more at sent-trib
