Katy Perry’s Exit From American Idol and Luke Bryan’s Emotional Reaction

“I had heard whispers that she was thinking about it — it wasn’t like a huge shock,” he admits of his co-worker leaving. “I think she kinda just got caught up in the moment with Kimmel and maybe announced that she was done.” “It’s been a good run with Katy, and she and I have developed a great friendship and to work alongside her,” he says. “I mean, heck, I was there before her daughter was born, and now her daughter is three or four years old.” “She knows that no matter what her next endeavors are, that she can pick up the phone and call me and check in and say hey,” he says, joking, “If she ever needs fishing advice or any random stuff like that.” – Read more at Taste of Country

‘American Idol’ Hits Hawaii: Behind the Scenes With the Judges, Jelly Roll, Iam Tongi & Tori Kelly

Luke Bryan: Sometimes we catch a little flak online about sending someone home. The fans speak out against our decisions. They don’t necessarily know where we’re coming from in that mental process. If we have the opportunity to really change somebody’s life, it’s worth us doing it and changing their life no matter what we may catch on the back end. One of my fun moments was when Megan Danielle was in a sing-off last year. I was a real big champion for her. She won her sing-off, which allowed her to come to Hawaii and then she went from the top 24 and finished in second place. I had a little pride. She was a Georgia girl, so that may have had a little to do with it. It was awesome. – Read more at Billboard

Tori Kelly and Jelly Roll Reflect on Their Careers as They Gear Up to Mentor American Idol’s Top 24

“When I got the call from American Idol to be a mentor, I was so excited because I just remember being 16 years old auditioning for this very show. So it was a very full circle moment for me to realize, ‘Oh, you have something to give now,'” Kelly, 31, who starred on season 9 of the singing competition show, says. Jelly Roll, 39, adds, “I feel like I bring a lot of experience in the form of failure to the table. I think that’s something they’re going to have to be familiar with because that’s what it takes to get good. You got to do it wrong a thousand times.” – Read more at People

Iam Tongi on Life After Winning ‘American Idol’ & His Return to Show

I stay in touch with everyone. We still have our group text from when the season first started. We all just text each other what we are doing and stuff coming up. I miss everyone. What have you learned from these months? I’m still trying to figure it out on my own. It’s kind of hard, but I’m figuring it out. My family has been a huge support system. My mom has been there for me ever since I was a kid. Also, my uncle has been on the road with me. My family has been helping me throughout this whole thing. Tell me about other music you’re making. I’m really excited about the new music I’m coming out with. It’s very different. Kind of like stepping away from what I usually do with some R&B, a little bit of reggae. I’m just open and having fun. Country music is one of my favorite types of music I’d like to do. My dream collaboration would be with Chris Stapleton. – Read more at TV Insider

Scotty McCreery on ‘Rise and Fall’ Album: ‘Every Song Has a Story’

“I just think for me, I’m at a place where I wasn’t going to make a record chasing trends, or chasing the top of the charts, or what sound is selling more tickets on the road,” McCreery tells Everything Nash. “I just want to make an album that feels good to me, feels good to my soul, touches on influences that I had growing up. I really think we did that on this record. To me, it’s the most ‘me’ record, and the most proud I’ve been of a record yet.” – Read more at Everything Nash

You’ll Never Guess Which From Justin to Kelly Star Justin Guarini Is Reuniting with on His Next Show

“I will forever be grateful to Idol for, not even a foot in the door, but a whole body smashing through the door to get into the entertainment industry,” Guarini continues. “In my 23-year career, the foundation of that is based on the opportunity that I was given to stand on that stage and to sing week after week in front of 30 million people. I reflect on it all the time and the feeling is just gratitude.” – Read more at People

Adam Lambert took to social media to share a preview of his role on the new Fraggle Rock, from the Muppet people. He wrote: “It was an honor to be featured on Fraggle Rock! I grew up watching this show!! The nostalgia was undeniable! I hope everyone can share the inspiring message of this episode with any kids you have in your lives. Encouraging kids to play dress up and express & explore their identities is so so important. I would not be the artist I am today without the safe space my parents gifted to me throughout my childhood! Even if there WAS any judgement, they always kept it to themselves and allowed me the freedom to express myself. This is for them! @FraggleRockOfficial – new season streaming now on Apple TV+!??@appletv #FraggleRock”
