Jordin Sparks Reveals Why She Slammed Her Ex Jason Derulo in New Song – “I knew it was going to get crazy,” the American Idol winner told me earlier today while promoting Microsoft Lumia’s Make It Happen campaign (more on that in a sec). “I was nervous to put it out there because no one had ever heard me like this before.” For the record, Sparks says she has not heard from Derulo since releasing the track about two weeks ago. – Read more at EOnline
Former American Idol Kris Allen Talks Music, Dickens and More – WS: Tell us what you and your family enjoy in Williamson County? Allen: I do love it in Williamson. I love the community vibe in this county. Dickens Christmas is a great example of that. WS: Who would you say are your musical inspirations? Allen: That’s a tough one. I feel like I have always listened to all types of music. From Garth to Michael. The Beatles to Boy Bands. James Taylor to Ryan Adams. And it is all so accessible these days. Reign on: Queen to tour with Adam Lambert – But for Queen guitarist Brian May, Lambert’s performances respectfully reflected the work of the original lead singer. “It’s not Freddie, you know. He doesn’t for an instant try and be Freddie. But some of the stuff he brings is very, very parallel, very similar, you know, the likeness he brings, apart from the extraordinary instrument, I mean, incredible instrument he has as a vocalist. But he brings a certain amount of humour, he brings a little bit of camp, dare I say, you know, and it’s all natural, you know, it just works with us. So that’s my answer. It’s different and it’s very cool,” May said. “Yeah, I don’t think we’d want to work with anybody else, actually, after working with Adam,” drummer Roger Taylor added. – Read more at Irish Times
EXCLUSIVE: ‘If One Direction ever want to go country I’m here!’: Carrie Underwood talks Greatest Hits, American Idol and becoming a mother – It only feels like yesterday that Carrie Underwood was singing her heart out on American Idol. Ten years later, the country music star now has a Greatest Hits album out, a baby on the way, and maybe a new collaboration on the cards. ‘If One Direction ever want to go country, I’m here,’ Carrie exclusively tells MailOnline. ‘You never know, it could happen! I think I should get on the phone to Simon’.’ [Nashville] had a couple of my songs that didn’t make it onto my album on hold. I was really impressed getting to hear Claire Bowen though. Anybody can sound good in a studio but I heard her live and I was really impressed.’ She added: ‘I’ve been lucky enough to do some things in TV and movies, but I’m just a singer, I’ve never considered myself to be an actress, it seems too hard.’ – Read more at The Daily Mail.co.uk
5 questions with season 4 of ‘The Voice’ runner-up Michelle Chamuel – How do you balance life on the road and being creative? Does touring distract from your creativity? Super interesting couple of questions! Life on the road for me is inherently unbalanced. There’s not much time to get healthy food, exercise, (get) sun, walk, reflect, or let the creativity flow. It’s very much GO, GO, GO, PROBLEM SOLVE, GO! So to deal with this, I like to limit the amount of time I spend on tour. That said, I find that after tour is a great time for creative output. I like to clear some time to just be creative when I get off the road. Who is your favorite live performer?

Simon Cowell: ‘Thank goodness I didn’t hire Lily Allen as an X Factor judge’ – She’s brash, outspoken and opinionated – but Simon Cowell says he’s pleased he didn’t hire Lily Allen as an X Factor judge. The pop mogul’s comments come after Allen criticised “music industry corruption” on The X Factor after Cowell gave Fleur East Mark Ronson’s unreleased song “Uptown Funk” to perform during Saturday night’s show. Allen tweeted she was suspicious that Fleur East sang the song in the semi-final before it was released by Sony, the partner label of Simon Cowell’s Syco. But Cowell has dismissed Allen’s tweets, saying she should “stop bleating”. Mark Ronson was forced to bring forward the release date of “Uptown Funk” following Fleur East topping the iTunes download chart with her version of the song. – Read more at Independent.co.uk
