‘Idolatry’: Lacey Brown on ‘Landslide’ woes, clashing outfits, and Miley Cyrus as mentor
Lacey Brown’s 12th place finish on American Idol’s ninth season may not have been exactly what she’d hoped for, but it beat her season 8 experience, where she managed to crack the top 54, but only saw her face flash on the screen for a hot, ridiculous second. Lacey stopped by the Idolatry studios to talk about getting snubbed in the year of Kradison, spiraling out of control during her semifinal performance of “Landslide, ” and missing out on a mentoring session with Miley Cyrus. Well, okay, she doesn’t exactly dish the latter topic, but her facial expression is worth 1, 000 words. Press play below and ch-ch-check out our three-part chat, then head to the comments and let me know what you think.

More About Paula Abdul’s Possible New Gig
The competition series is billed as the first all-ages all-genres dance series. A wide variety of acts will compete for a panel of judges, with viewers getting to vote during the semifinals and finals.
CBS has greenlit the project for an unspecified number of episodes.
Sources say CBS alternative topper Jennifer Bresnan liked the relatability of expanding the genre beyond professionals to include amateurs with undiscovered talent and high aspirations.
The British version of “Dance” debuted this year on Sky 1 and became one of the country’s top-rated premium network series.
The network has yet to select “Got to Dance” judges, but CBS has expressed some interest in a certain choreographer-turned-reality TV star for the gig — Paula Abdul. The former “American Idol” judge continues to be courted for a range of TV projects, recently ruling out a return to TV on ABC’s “Star Search” reboot.
American Idol contestant Sanjaya ticketed for speeding
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Life in the fast lane got expensive for former American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar.
He received a $411 ticket for speeding on the Eastside.
The Washington State Patrol says Malakar drove 110 miles per hour on Interstate 405 in Kirkland early Tuesday morning – 50 mph over the speed limit.
No other cars were around, so Malakar was not arrested for reckless endangerment.
Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the case.

‘American Idol’ sounding like a broken record
Hold on to your tow rope, “American Idol” – you’ve officially jumped the shark.
From the ho-hum judging to the so-so singers to the tense exchanges between Simon Cowell and host Ryan Seacrest (just make out already!), “American Idol” went from a feel-good talent show to a feel-bad shriekfest.
Season nine’s performances are either a bore or ear-splitters. Barnstable belter Siobhan Magnus might make the top three, but for the love of David Archuleta, will she stop ending each song like she’s trying out for the lead in “Saw XII”?
media MATTers: Glam-bert
When we last left Adam Lambert, I was soaring into battle defending his honor in the wake of his performance at the American Music Awards.
It’s been a few months, and I think the heat has died down. Lambert is working hard at one thing – revitalizing his career.
I still stand by him but Lambert’s raunchy performance of “For Your Entertainment” knocked him down a few pegs. No longer ‘America’s Sweetheart, ‘ his new goal is to maintain his glam-rock status but keep his popularity and fan base.
WE ARE THE FALLEN Covers IRON MAIDEN, MADONNA At Debut Gig – Mar. 24, 2010

Although the group’s set focused primarily on the material that will appear on the band’s forthcoming debut album, “Tear The World Down”, WE ARE THE FALLEN also threw in two surprise cover versions — IRON MAIDEN’s “Flight Of Icarus” and MADONNA’s “Like A Prayer”.
Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.
Chris Daughtry At Foxwoods Casino March 27
Sometimes finishing fourth-best can be a blessing in disguise. While “American Idol” Season 5 finalists Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee have struggled to find pop-music relevance, Chris Daughtry has had no trouble ruling rock radio. ” Daughtry” was the fastest-selling rock debut in Soundscan history and went on to become the biggest-selling rock record of 2007.
N.C. Idol
Bucky Covington was finished with his second album until he saw the lyrics for a song that he knew needed to be included on that album.
“I thought I was done with the album, and then this particular song came rolling across the desk, ” said Covington, a Rockingham native who came to fame on the fifth season of American Idol. “I said ‘whoa, whoa’ … it was just one of those songs.”
The song, “A Father’s Love (The Way He Knew How), ” was released as a single this week. It deals with showing love for a father who can be uncomfortable with expressions of emotion. “One of my favorite lines is, ‘I knew he’d stiffen up, but I hugged him anyway, ‘” Covington said.
Swift is sweet and sassy in C’ville
Next up was Kellie Pickler, stand out from American Idol Season 5. She opened with “Best Days of Your Life” followed by “Things That Never Cross A Man’s Mind” and her current single “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You?” just to name a few.
She perched on a stool to sing “I Wonder” and closed her set with “Red High Heels.”
It was Kellie’s sparkly silver five-inch heels that caught my eye. How anyone can walk in them is beyond me. And she even managed to walk up and down the ramps on either side of the stage, determined to connect with the audience. Impressive!
‘Glee’: Meet Rachel Berry’s new guy, Jonathan Groff
“Glee” fans, meet Jonathan Groff, who will play a character by the name of Jesse St. James when the series returns on April 13.
He’s in Vocal Adrenaline, the rival glee club we saw last year, and he’s got much in common with McKinley High’s first lady of song and dance.

Ralph Lauren celebrated Evan Lysacek’s Olympic gold medal win at the brand’s Robertson flagship Tuesday, following the figure skater’s debut on “Dancing With the Stars” the night before. “Dancing” castmates Buzz Aldrin, Niecy Nash and Bruno Tonioli came to toast Lysacek — the first American man to win a gold in figure skating in 22 years.

Eyeing the ‘Idol’ odds
Predicting the results on American Idol isn’t a science. But it’s fun to approach it that way. Along the lines of the research that meticulous Idol scholars are conducting into what’s known as Idolmetrics, we’ve come up with a pseudoscientific fast-track formula to gauge each singer’s momentum. Contestants can score up to 100 points or if they’re in danger into double-digit negative numbers. Our progress reports are handed out the day after the performance show, with final grades given after elimination.

‘Hello Ottawa’ – Carrie Underwood
In a lavish example of showing off at your boyfriend’s place of employment, country sweetheart Carrie Underwood, who is engaged to Ottawa Senators forward Mike Fisher, took over Scotiabank Place on Wednesday night, treating her adopted hometown to a elaborately staged performance.
Ten shows into Underwood’s ambitious Play On tour, most of the kinks have been ironed out, and if she was aiming to impress her future hubby’s friends, fans, family members and teammates, the goal was accomplished.
Kellie Pickler’s music often very personal
Country star Kellie Pickler is known for her award-winning, tear-jerking ballad “I Wonder, ” written about her mother who deserted her at a young age. Now Pickler, who’s opening for Taylor Swift at The Palace on Friday, March 26, and Saturday, March 27, on her “Fearless Tour 2010, ” is at a crossroads.
“I’m at a point with my third record where I’m trying to decide how much I want to let people in and how much I want to be open about, ” said Pickler, calling from her tour bus in between gigs. “I don’t know how much I’m ready to talk about and really how much I’m willing to let people in. That’s where I am right now.”
Kellie Pickler Folds Her Fan Club
Kellie took to her website (KelliePickler.com) to personally explain to her fans why she is choosing to fold the fan club. “I want to thank you all for being such special fans and let you know that I’ve decided to make some changes to my website and fan club, ” she writes. “We’re moving to a new website home in April … part of the website changes will give you greater access to music, photos, videos and message boards. I have felt for awhile that everyone should have access to these features without having to pay for it as a fan club member. So, as part of the website changes, we’re closing the Official Fan Club. I’m really excied about this new direction and that everyone can afford to be part of it!”
Tim Urban shirtless pics show why he’s so huggable
If you’re looking for a reason why Paige Miles got sent home last night instead of the arguably less talented (though admittedly more consistent) Tim Urban, you might have to look a little further than Urban’s teen-magnet haircut, winning smile and cross-stage slide.
Shirtless photos of Tim Urban in a swimsuit competition, held as part of a larger tryout by an agency called AMTC (Actors, Models & Talent for Christ), have seeped onto the Web and are spreading fast. They reveal that Urban is packing a serious six-pack and an impressive set of pecs under his sweet demeanor. (Urban also can be seen acting and singing in the talent competition, in which he finished in the top five in the “singer/songwriter” category.)
American Idol Taylor Hicks In Buffalo
BUFFALO, N.Y. (wgrz.com) An American Idol winner is in Buffalo this week and he says he’s enjoying his time here.
Taylor Hicks is starring in the Broadway tour of “Grease” at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. He plays “Teen Angel” in the show.
“Taylor, what do you think of Buffalo?” 2 On Your Side’s Josh Boose asked him.
“I’m enjoying it, ” Hicks replied. “I’m about to go get some wings, I have a few places in mind.”
