‘American Idol’s’ Nigel Lythgoe Pontificates On The Likelihood Of A ‘Pia Rule’

“Yes, they are. Most certainly the right ones, ” Nigel told Access Hollywood of the six remaining “Idol” hopefuls at the BritWeek 2011 event in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Despite Pia’s “fabulous” voice, Nigel told Access that although there was initially talk of changing the “Idol” voting system following her shocking elimination, the rules would most likely remain the same.

“No, I don’t think it’s going to happen, ” Nigel answered, when asked if the show plans to implement a “Pia rule” to change voting structure. “We’ll certainly discuss it — we discuss every aspect of the show. We’ll be doing so again at the end of this season.”

‘Idol’ critic Roger Daltrey wanted to be a judge

(Reuters) – Veteran British rocker Roger Daltrey, a vehement critic of TV talent shows, once auditioned to be a judge on “American Idol, ” according to Rolling Stone magazine.

But the Who frontman flunked his tryout by dressing too smartly, disappointing producers who instead gave the job last year to colorful Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler.

The magazine quoted Mike Darnell, an executive at “Idol” broadcaster Fox, as saying that Daltrey looked “very formal, his hair was cut, he looked like a regular guy. He had lost all that sort of rock ‘n’ roll charm.”

Stefano Langone Clarifies “Not Wanting to Win” Remark; Idol Hopefuls Won’t Go Solo Wednesday

“I don’t wanna speak for anybody, but I know that…everybody wants it so much, ” he hedged. “And it wasn’t that I didn’t want it, because I did. [I just wasn’t] putting all my eggs in one basket and [being] like, ‘I need to be this or I’m done for life.'” Fine, but are Scotty, Lauren, James, Hailey, Casey and Jacob interested in taking the title, or not? Stefano said, “I don’t wanna speak for anybody. I know everybody wants to do their absolute best, just like me. Everybody is in it to win it.”

David Cook Fights for Sleep, Writes ‘This Loud Morning’ — Exclusive Interview

What was the writing process like for ‘This Loud Morning?’

I think the writing process on this record was long, as it needed to be. I think as we were going on the tour for the first record we had things happen both good and bad. In an effort to really stay on the road and keep the show a priority, I really shelved all those things. Whether it be the great things like the experience of playing for 115, 000 people in Manila, or the downside like my brother passed away while we were on the road in May of ’09. So as I got off the road and started writing, those things kind of resurfaced and I was forced to deal with them and I think as a result the writing process became a little bit more therapeutic than it ever had been for me before. I think as a result this record is very much an emotionally honest record where I think there’s some open-wound moments.

Kellie Pickler Is Ready for Fans to Get ‘Tough’

“I’ve never been more excited about even just a single that we’re releasing to radio, ” an animated Kellie tells The Boot. “I think it’s gonna be the best one that we’ve given radio. It’s country. It’s got a little bluegrass, it’s got some fiddle, it’s got some steel and it’s got some spoons. It’s got kind of a dirty hillbilly [sound], but it’s still commercial enough, I think, for country radio.”

The North Carolina native is currently working on the forthcoming album, which still needs a title. “We’re lacking two songs to being completely finished with the song-picking and the photo shoot, ” she notes. “Once we get all the songs put together, and I get them in a particular order that we want them in, I can listen from front to finish and find that one word that kind of ties it all into a whole. Then we’ll have a title.”

America has been reintroduced to Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton as coaches on the singing competition that judges talent on ability alone and we’re beginning to get a feel for them. Levine is playing it smart, Aguilera is looking for the big booming voices, Shelton is staying true to his country roots and Green is proving to be the biggest risk taker of the lot.

So after Week 1, who are the early front-runners?
