Should Covering Songs Be Illegal? Dr. Luke, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert Weigh In
Last week, Prince told George Lopez that he thinks covering songs without an artist’s permission and blessing should be illegal. “Covering music means your version doesn’t exist anymore, ” said the purple one. “A lot of times, people think I’m doing Sinead O’Connor’s song or Chaka Khan’s song when in fact I wrote those songs.”
Adam Lambert: “I understand where he’s coming from. I mean, he’s Prince. I think he can get his way. But there is something to that, because as artists and writers, we create these songs and we have this passion and vision for it. Then the minute someone covers it, you run the risk of it either being great or falling apart.”

Bucky Covington Gives Advice to Scotty McCreery, Other ‘American Idol’ Contestants
Bucky Covington knows how ‘American Idol‘ finalists feel going into an elimination round. But the season five finalist, who finished in eighth place in 2006, tells Taste of Country that the real competition begins when you go home for good.
“I think people have a perception of you, ” the always chatty Covington says about fan expectations after ‘Idol.’ “You have to almost be as good as Tim McGraw even though you have none of the experience.” The live show is one area many contestants struggle with, and he says that’s because playing for cameras and playing for a crowd take two very different skill sets.
“Pretty much you let the camera do the work. You kind of stand there and let the camera do all the dancing around you and let the editing part of it make you look good, ” he explains, laughing.

Fantasia, Jah Cure Booked For St. Kitts Music Festival
Grammy-winning R&B singer Fantasia Barrino and EME award-winning Reggae artist Jah Cure will be performing at the 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, organizers confirmed.
“Saturday will see the jazz band, Commodores, Jah Cure and Fantasia. Thursday night you will have the Bunny Wailer and UB40 and the rest of the show will be local, ” Lam revealed.
The festival will be held June 23-25th. Tourism Minister Hon. Richard Skerritt had stated earlier this year that despite economic challenges, the show would go on.
