Kelly Clarkson to Premiere ‘Dark Side’ at BBMAs, Talks ‘Duets’ – Kelly Clarkson will premiere her new single “Dark Side” at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday in a mashup with “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).” The singer, now 10 years and five albums removed from her season one victory in “American Idol,” provided that detail Thursday while in Los Angeles doing interviews to promote ABC’s summer singing competition “Duets.” “We’ve already shot a video and I’ll be doing it on ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” Clarkson told Billboard. “Dark Side” will be sent to radio on Monday and her label, RCA, will go for adds on June 4. – Read more at Billboard

Tyler marveled at the growth of 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez and 21-year-old Phillip Phillips, commenting that the latter brought the magic” with “one of the best songs in the history of music,” Bob Seger’s “We’ve Got Tonight,” while Jackson pointed out that, while there’s a girl in the finale (finally), Sanchez might be at a disadvantage without the “’cute boy vote.” His advice: pick a song that will wow the audience and not put them to sleep. “Just go for it,” he said.

“I’m not so much concerned about the chart,” Lambert said. “I’m more flattered and validated by fans and critics having such a good time listening to it.”

Lambert also discussed how, three years after he came in second on Idol’s season 8, fan wars still flare up. “Fandom is a beautiful thing as long as it’s positive,” he said. “But when it turns negative, it just seems like such a waste of energy to me.”
