Six years after success on ‘American Idol, ’ Bo Bice is still going strong
You might think the runner-up of “American Idol” would get tired of standing in the shadow of that show.
You certainly could be forgiven for thinking that of country artist Bo Bice, who came in second to Carrie Underwood on the fourth season of the Fox reality competition. After all, Bice released “The Real Thing, ” to sales of more than half a million albums in 2005, the same year he came in second. And while he’s still sold respectably in the years since, subsequent albums have yet to match that level of success.

‘The X Factor’ winner Matt Cardle to release debut album this October
The winner of last year’s The X Factor, Matt Cardle, has announced the release of his debut album.
‘Letters’ will be released on October 17, and apparently sees him continuing with the same Biffy Clyro balladeering which won him a Number One hit single last Christmas with ‘When We Collide’. He’ll also be having his way with mum-pleasing Snow Patrol-style sonics on the album.
According to The Sun, the title track is said to be similar to Coldplay’s 2005 single ‘Fix You’ while Cardle said of ‘All For Nothing’ – which was co-written with Adele collaborator Eg White – that he “recorded it after a couple of cups of tea and a few cigarettes so it’s quite raw”. Indeed.

The X Factor’s back, so kiss goodbye to your life
You’re right to feel trepidation ahead of Saturday’s X Factor. Thanks to X Factor USA, the entire dynamic of the UK show has been skewed. No longer will Simon Cowell swish around in a shirt undone to his pubis. No longer will Cheryl Cole burst into tears each time one of her acts hits a wrong note. No longer will Dannii Minogue spend several days in makeup teasing her hair into the shape of a Pauling–Corey–Branson alpha helix. Instead, we’ve got three new interlopers in their place – Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos; the next generation, as ITV is determined to relentlessly parp. If these newcomers can’t convince, then X Factor might be done for.
