DeWyze Snubs, Denton Shines: Zwecker

Chicago – Talk about being shocked! I was all set to head out to Arlington Park Friday night, planning to chat with American Idol Season 9 winner and Mt. Prospect native Lee DeWyze. We were originally scheduled to talk shortly before his solo concert at Arlington, but on Friday afternoon we got word that Lee had cancelled all interviews — even with us!

Given the fact that Fox Chicago had been nothing but supportive of DeWyze, and in a big way, from the start of his journey to winning Idol, we were stunned that he would snub us!

Oh well, we still love you Lee, please come back and see us next time, even though we’re still amazed that you would blow us off on Friday!

‘Glee’ Britney Spears episode: Harry Shum did a ‘double take’ with Heather Morris

There might only be one Britney Spears, but “Glee” star Harry Shum, Jr. mistook his co-star Heather Morris for the real thing.

“I’m actually really happy for Heather Morris because this is her breakout episode, ” Shum tells Zap2it about the “Britney/Brittany” episode airing Tuesday, Sept. 28, in which Cheerios Brittany (Morris) gets gassed at the dentist and imagines herself as Spears in music videos.

“People are going to go nuts when they see her do her thing, ” he continues. “She looks like Britney in the musical numbers. It’s crazy. You have to do a double take. Me and Kevin [McHale] walked into her doing a musical number because some of them we weren’t in that she was in. We had heard that Britney was coming on set, so we were like, ‘Wait, is that her?’ We had to look really closely to see it wasn’t.”

Singer Robyn Troup’s dreams look poised to be realized

It was, for a few moments, a beautifully realized dream. But that was more than three years ago, and nothing ever materialized — thanks to a certain TV talent show.

A few months before the Grammy contest, Troup auditioned for Season 6 of American Idol. The Yates High School graduate passed the initial auditions but was cut during Hollywood rounds. The show’s contracts, however, prohibited her from pursuing any other deals.

Her deal, the endorsement and any other immediate opportunities vanished.

“They didn’t want me to come out and compete with the winner of that season, who would have been Jordin Sparks, ” Troup, now 22, recalls.
