The 21st Annual Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis classic kicked off today in Boca Raton. The competition begins tomorrow at the Delray Beach Tennis Center and runs until the 7th, Chris Evert was at the Boca Raton Resort today to talk to the media and welcome her long list of celebrities that are participating in this year’s event. The list includes: Tennis legends Martina Navratilo, Sebastien Grosjean, Anna Kournikova, actors Jeffrey Donovan from the hit-show Burn Notice, Alan Thicke from the show Growing Pains, comedian Jon Lovitz from Saturday Night Live, musicians Gavin Rossdale, David Cook, among many others.

Justin Guarini is “surprisingly charming” in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, says USA TODAY’s Elysa Gardner. But the musical adaptation of Pedro Almodovar’s Oscar-winning 1988 film, which opened Thursday at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre, is getting clobbered by critics.
“Take a delectable screen property, add a masterful director, gifted designers and a formidable assembly of stage talent, and what do you get?” asks The Hollywood Reporter ‘s David Rooney. “Sadly, a flavorless gazpacho.”

Ryan Seacrest ribbon cuts new media center at Children’s Healthcare at Egleston in Emory
Ryan Seacrest flew into Atlanta to christen his first major financial endeavor for his new Ryan Seacrest Foundation: a media center at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston hospital near Emory University.
His first boss at Star 94, Mark Kanov, told me after the event that he had a similar idea two years ago after he retired from Star but held off due to the economy. When he heard Ryan had a similar concept in mind, they joined forces. Ryan funded the operation, well into the six figures, while Kanov helped put the entire operation together. Ryan hopes to place similar operations in children’s hospitals in other cities.
Ryan’s “girlfriend” Julianne Hough was there, as were his parents.

Local barber auditions for ‘Idol’
Standing in line with over 10, 000 eager aspiring singers waiting to audition for the upcoming season of “American Idol” was Beloit’s very own Jason Fane.
The 2009 winner of the Riverfest Singing Idol competition has confirmed he did indeed try out for Fox’s hit reality show set to return in January.
“I made it to a certain portion of the show, ” is all Fane could say regarding what happened following his July audition in Milwaukee.
The 26-year-old father of two did say, however, auditioning was a life-changing experience.
