Lee DeWyze Wants Fans Dancing to His Post-‘Idol’ Debut
“When I first started talking to (label) people, I told them, ‘I just think that it’s going to be more me and it’s gonna progress better if I have a hand in the writing process, ” explains DeWyze, “and they were like, ‘Well, go write and let’s see what happens.’ And so we went into the studio and (the song) ‘Live It Up’ came about. I brought that to the table and they were very happy with it, so that’s what kick-started the whole thing.”
DeWyze is gearing up to promote “Live It Up” on TV, starting with a Nov. 9 appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ” followed by a national anthem performance at the Nov. 14 Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants football game, and stops at “Today, ” “Live! with Regis & Kelly” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” DeWyze also predicts that “we’re gonna be touring for hopefully most of next year. That’s my plan, so hopefully it all works out. I’m really proud of this album, and I’m really excited to play it live. It’s a good album to have fun and dance to and get into, so that’s the goal.”

American Idol’ producer Nigel Lythgoe hopes ‘we give a damn’ about new contestants
“I can only believe from what I’ve seen, that we really will get a good top 12, but we’ll wait and see, ” he said. “All I’m interested in is that they really do have talent, and they reach out to us, and we give a damn about them. I just don’t want them to be boring people. I’d like them to be really interesting, and star quality material.”
“I think we’ve got a whole new batch of talent, because we’ve opened it up to 15 year olds, ” he said. “Some of them are coming in very young an immature, and others are coming in and really knocking the ball out of the park. You just go, you’re 15 and 16, are you sure?”
“We’re hearing a lot of country voices. A lot of the sort of indie-rock stuff, ” he said. “But one or two little gems where you go, ‘wow, we’ve never really had jazz before. Or wow that’s a really interesting country voice that may have been dismissed in the past.’”

Brad & Carrie Offer an Inside Look at CMA Award Hosting Gig
“We’re pretty prepared before we go out, ” Brad tells The Boot. “Some of the best lines for last year’s show, as well as the year before that, were developed together sitting in a room just a couple of days prior. Last year, one of my favorite moments came about 48 hours before the show. We were sitting around talking about how to end the monologue. We felt like it was really cool with all these songs and sort of parodies of old country songs, but it needed an ending. And [Carrie] said out of the blue, ‘Don’t Tim [McGraw] and Faith [Hill] both have fragrances?’ And I loved that whole bit. For me to be able to call out Tim and Faith on the front row, knowing that when I said I was wearing McGraw, I knew what he would do. Because I know there’s a part of Tim McGraw, as cool as it is and as many guys who wear it, he’s a little bit horrified that there’s a fragrance out there with his name on it, just like I would be. [laughs] And I’m sure he sells a lot, and it does smell great … but to be able to call him out on it, and this being Carrie’s total idea to do it, this way [was great].”
“In the whole scheme of things, we really start out reading what’s on the teleprompter, ” explains Carrie. “And towards the end of the night, we’re like, ‘Nah!'”

CMA entertainer of the year newcomers Miranda Lambert, Lady A and Zac Brown Band spur debate
“The only thing that I was disappointed in was the acts that have been headlining for so many years, they were not nominated, ” McEntire said. “In particular, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts. I would’ve assumed they would’ve been in that nomination before Zac Brown Band, Lady A and Miranda Lambert.”

Katharine McPhee goes swimming with the sharks
McPhee — in Chicago for Macy’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony Saturday and to promote her new album, “Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You” — just spent two months in Shreveport, La. filming “Shark Night, ” and she called it a “fun” experience. The action-thriller’s story revolves around seven people who spend their vacation at a lake house trying to survive shark attacks.
Think “Snakes on a Plane, ” only better, McPhee said.
“I think it’ll be cooler. It’s the same director, (David R. Ellis). The CGI is more advanced and it’s in 3-D, ” she said. “It’ll be out next summer, so you can see for yourself.”

Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez have their eyes on a penthouse apartment in a building near a Puerto Rican landmark that has sparked huge local protests.
