American Idol’s Lee DeWyze Dabbling in the Art of…Polka?!
Clearly, America shared our love because Lee was crowned this year’s Idol, and that title shall remain until the new Justin Bieber is found forever! But we also have high hopes for his post-Idol plans, and we’re looking forward to a taste of his solo career on tour…
“My album is going to be a folk/rock/pop album, ” he says when asked to describe his sound. Ah, yes. The “folockpop” genre. “It’s very polka, but less upbeat, ” he laughs.

‘Idol’s’ top 10 ready to make their mark in Albany
Pessimists, some of them longtime fans of “American Idol, ” are saying this is the year the singing competition showed its age and began its decline.
There are no apparent megastars among the bunch, nor even any magnetic standouts like last year’s Adam Lambert. Factoring in a milder judging crew — including a defanged Simon Cowell and, in Ellen Degeneres, a newcomer who delivered verdicts along the lines of “It wasn’t very good, but you know I think you’re great and I still love you” — produced low ratings: The finale in May had the fewest viewers of any “Idol” coronation since the 2002 debut year. And the American Idol Live concert tour by the top-10 finishers, stopping in Albany on Saturday night, has endured weak ticket sales; promoters shortened the tour and have canceled eight dates so far because of a lack of audiences.

VAL Celebration Features Elliott Yamin
One of Leesburg’s biggest developments is set to officially open its retail center Saturday. In Celebration, the Village at Leesburg will host a blowout summer block party featuring a live performance from former American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin.
The Richmond native made a name for himself as a finalist in Idol’s season five, going up against Katherine McPhee and the show’s eventual winner, Taylor Hicks. With the show far behind him, Yamin says now he is excited to play as often as he can, especially in his home state. “Every time I get a chance to play in an area I’m familiar with it’s awesome. There’s something about the love and support that comes to me from that area that’s really great, ” Yamin said.
