Casey Abrams Makes the Jump from Idyllwild to Burbank – “I was taking a song and dance class at Idyllwild Arts that summer,” he said. “And they held a boy-girl dance there. It was my first big social experience.” Now at age 22, he’ll be returning as a paid entertainer when the 20th annual Jazz in the Pines runs Aug. 17-18. Abrams, who was a top 10 finalist on American Idol’s Season 10, will perform at noon Aug. 18 with tickets benefitting his alma maters, the Idyllwild Arts Academy and Summer Program. Local Scene: ‘American Idol’s’ Casey Abrams breaks out his bass in Valpo – “I’m an upright bass player primarily,” said multi-instrumentalist Abrams. “It wasn’t my first love and it wasn’t my first instrument, because I played piano and clarinet before I picked up the bass, but it’s what I like playing most on stage.” One of Abrams’ biggest thrills to date was being asked by Jack Black to play jazz bass with Black and Kyle Gass during a Tenacious D gig at The Catalina Club in Los Angeles. – Read more at NWTimes.com
Kellie Pickler Guests on CMT’s Bounty Hunters – I had a chance to ask Pickler what it was like to play a role on CMT’s new animated series Bounty Hunters, and she explained all about her character named Daisy. “She’s very curvaceous and has a lot of big, blond hair,” she said. “She doesn’t look anything like me, but I wasn’t playing Kellie Pickler, so they could make her look like anything.
