Some of you may have noticed that Glee didn’t stomp all over the iTunes single chart last week like it usually does every week. That’s because they decided to release an EP and stomp all over the Album charts. Glee’s “The Power of Madonna” was the third album from that series (in less than a year) and it’s their first album to reach number 1. It sold 98K last week which is lower than the first weeks for those previous albums (Glee 1 debued with 113K and Glee 2 with 173K). This is the first television soundtrack to hit Number 1 since Sept 2007 (HSM2). Combined, the series has sold 1.4M albums.
On a more Idol-centric front, fans of Adam will be waiting to see how sustained his Idol bump has been. His song WWFM managed to stay in the top 10 all week. Also anticipating bumps will be the country Idol fans since the ACM awards were a week ago Sunday. Carrie should do quite well.
Please post numbers as you find them. Thanks!
