763 concerts were reported this week, so apologies in advance if I missed anybody relevant in the onslaught.
One Direction continues to amaze. I’ve run out of superlatives. From May 28th to June 8th, the lads from the X-Factor sold out 8 concerts. They played to 510,999 screaming fans and brought in $37,869,140. Nice work if you can get it. Stunning.
Also from the X-Factor is Little Mix. They are a little more popular in the UK giving a concert at that O2 arena that earned $772K. In the US, they are opening for Demi whose Auburn Hills concert earned half that. Also opening for Demi at that concert were X-Factor’s Cher Lloyd and Fifth Harmony. Cher was also one of the acts at a KISS 95.7 concert in Uncasville and headlined in Huntington. Fifth Harmony headlined and sold-out in New Jersey.
Selena Gomez, Demi’s fellow Disney Channel star, also has reality singing show competitors opening for her in Auburn Hills. X-Factor US’s Emblem3 and The Voice’s Christina Grimmie opened that sold-out concert. On their own, Emblem3 also sold out a concert in Huntington.
Pentatonix from the Sing-off sold-out concerts on both sides of the Atlantic. They were in New York at the famed Beacon in April and in Dublin in May. The Sing-off Live Tour was in Minneapolis and it too sold-out.
AGT’s Lindsey Stirling has the Voice’s Dia Framptom (first season) opening for her. Lindsey sold-out the Riveria Theatre in Chicago and the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee.
Finally, we have Idol’s Fantasia in Tuscaloosa and Daugntry in Huntington (were he sold-out).
