Lauren Alaina is full of surprises! On Friday (June 18) she dropped a brand new song “If The World is a Small Town,” from her upcoming album.
What a WORLDwind of a Friday!” Lauren wrote on social media, in her usual punny style. “If The World Was A Small Town is available now!”
The country song, written by David Garcia, Josh Miller, and Lauren, finds the American Idol season 10 alum musing about what her life would be like if she hadn’t “gotten out” of her small town.
“Probably would have gone to the courthouse/would have had one or two babies right now,” she sings. “If I didn’t feel so stuck I woulda stuck around,” Lauren continues in the chorus. “Maybe we woulda made it before I made it out.”
Could the song be about Lauren’s hometown ex Alex Hopkins?
Perhaps “If the World Was a Small Town” is about her ex-fiance Alex Hopkins whom she started to date in high school. In this People interview, Lauren admitted that “We kind of just outgrew one another,” she said about breaking up after a 6 month engagement, “It was a really hard thing to move on from, and it was really painful, but the closure was better there because I think we both knew we needed to split.”
The new song wasn’t the only surprise this week. Lauren announced that she is starring in a new Hallmark romantic comedy, set to premiere in September called Roadhouse Romance.
Plus, the Dancing with the Stars alum will appear on an episode of CBS’ new home makeover series, Secret Celebrity Renovation. It’s a one-hour series that gives celebrities in sports, music, film and other entertainment fields the chance to give a surprise home renovation to a meaningful and influential person who helped guide them to success.
