We’ve all been wondering if American Idol 13 runner-up, Jena Irene, will be signed to a record deal by 19. According to USA Today, the answer is…maybe.

Jena’s future in the music industry is less certain: She’s not signed to a record deal yet, but she’s “on hold” with Idol producer 19 Entertainment and will find out after the tour if she’ll be signed. In the meantime, she’ll try to squeeze in songwriting when she can during the tour.

“We’re going to be on a bus the whole time, so it’s going to be really hard to write music,” she says. “But the whole journey’s going to be very inspiring and there’s going to be a lot of new song topics to write about.”

After tonight’s American Idol Live concert in Binghamton, winner, Caleb Johnson will head back to Los Angeles to put the finishing touches on his debut album, Testify.  The singer will rejoin the group for their next concert in Windsor Ontario Canada on Friday. (A show originally scheduled for Wednesday in Albany has been cancelled.)

As for Jena. I wonder why 19 is waiting until after the tour to make their decision about signing her? Perhaps they are waiting to see how Caleb’s debut sells when it is released on August 12.
