Listen to Jennifer Hudson sing “Bleed for Love.” The song, written by Diane Warren, is the theme for the American Idol alum and Oscar winner’s upcoming film, Winnie.
In it, Jennifer plays Winnie Mandela, wife to Nelson Mandela (Terrence Howard)–the South African anti-apartheid activist who eventually became president after years spent in prison.
The song has the typical swoop and big emotional power choruses that typifies a Diane Warren ballad. Jennifer Hudson’s big voice is definitely not wasted here.
Winnie opens nationwide on September 6.
