American Idol alum and Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson has a new acting gig. She will join Greg Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright and Alison Wright in an upcoming TV movie about Clarence Thomas’ Supreme Court confirmation hearings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, Confirmations, is produced by HBO Films, and details the 1991 Supreme Court nomination hearings and the testimony of Anita Hill, who detailed, on the stand, sexual harassment at the hands of Thomas. Scandal’s Kerry Washington stars as Hill, Treme’s Wendell Pierce will play Clarence Thomas and Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet will portray lobbyist Ken Duberstein.
Jennifer will play Angela Wright, who worked with Thomas at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and issued a key statement about Thomas’ comments about women. Greg Kinnear will play Sen. Joe Biden and Jeffrey Wright plays Charles Ogletree, who served as legal counsel to Hill during the hearings. Alison Wright (The Americans) is Ginni Thomas, an attorney and Clarence’s wife.
