Jennifer Lopez called into the Ryan Seacrest radio show today to talk about her Kohl’s clothing line (available next week) her new single “Papi” and more (but not her soon-to-be ex-husband, Marc Anthony).
At the end of the interview they chatted about auditions for the upcoming season of American Idol. So far, the judges have auditioned hopefuls from Charleston and Houston. Today, the gang is in St. Louis.
The process is going “really great, ” says Jennifer, “After last year, and having such great talent…it’s funny, everything is compared to the last one. So, it has to be better than that. The kids…we’re being really tough on them.”
O rly? Last year, the judges were edited to have a variety of responses to potential Idol contestants. But once the live shows started, the judges became less and less inclined to offer meaningful critiques. I’ll be surprised if that changes for Season 11.
Jennifer also reveals the gang’s “first fight” over a girl she loved so much, Jennifer thought she was being punked when Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler turned her down.
I’ve clipped the Idol-centric part of Jennifer’s interview below. If you want to hear the whole thing, go to RyanSeacrest.com.
