Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston star in the remake of the 1976 movie Sparkle and you can see the official trailer here now. The story revolves around a girl group made up of a trio of sisters trying to make it in the Motor City music scene in the 1960’s.
This is Jordin’s movie debut, but sadly, for the late Whitney Houston, her last. She plays the mother of the pop wannabes–a failed singer who warns her daughters, “Isn’t my life enough of a cautionary tale?” Chilling, considering the death of Houston from a drug overdose in February.
Sparkle opens in theaters August 17.
