The one-night-only benefit presentation of Bombshell, the fictional Broadway musical from the short-lived NBC musical drama, Smash, will now take place June 8, a week earlier than previously scheduled.
The event, presented by The Actors Fund, is produced by Smash producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. It was originally set for June 15. The new June 8 date for Bombshell follows the presentation of the 69th annual Tony Awards, which will take place June 7 at Radio City Music Hall.
If you were considering buying tickets for the event, here’s some news that might help make your decision. Not only will Megan Hilty star, as previously confirmed. But now, Katharine McPhee has confirmed her participation. In an interview with Zap2it, she confirms Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston are all returning for the show, along with Megan Hilty.
The presentation of Bombshell will include all 22 songs composed for the show, along with choreography from Smash choreographer, Joshua Bergasse.
“It’s so, cool. I’m going to be there — me and Megan — everyone — Debra, Anjelica,” Kat said at in an interview on the set of her recently renewed CBS television series, Scorpion. “It’s going to be so fun. That was such a great, really fun — another really special job.”
Katharine would love to return to New York City, where she lived for two years while she filmed Smash. “I would really like to spend a lot of my hiatus in New York, actually,” she said. “I don’t know what I’ll be doing, but I wouldn’t mind spending a lot of time there.”
