Overall Thoughts: In the sense that I see her voice fitting into dark and alternative genres, Katherine reminds me of Lorde honestly, That aside, Katherine is in my personal top 5 girls and I think she is incredibly talented. I think she will stick around a while this season. However, as much as I like her, she also kind of reminds me of Emily Piriz, and she didn’t last that long.
Song Suggestions:
- Royals, by Lorde. Again, she reminds me of Lorde. Either way, I think she could seriously slay this song, especially if she switches it up.
- Cough Syrup, by Young the Giant. This song would solidify what genre Katherine defines herself. From watching her videos, I think she is alternative, so this would let the audience know where she fits in. However, if she wants to go with pop and country like she sometimes does in her covers, I’d pick another song as a statement of where she will be sticking with for the season.
We caught a glimpse of Katherine during the New York City auditions, where she sang “If I Didn’t Know” by the Civil Wars as a backdrop to hopefuls being eliminated.
