Thirty year old singer Kawan Debose charmed The Voice season 12 coaches during Blind Audition with his smooth soul stylings.
Covering the Marvin Gaye classic, “Let’s Get it On,” Kawan prompted turns from coaches Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, but oddly, not Alicia Keys.
It seemed that at any moment Alicia would hit her button–she was grooving in her seat as Kawan showed off a few slick ad libs. Adam compared his falsetto to that of the late Prince, and promised Kawan he’d be his #1 team member.
Maybe Alicia felt she already had enough male soul singers on her team. She advocated for Adam, reminding Kawan that the coach has NOBODY like him on his team.
Gwen, on the other hand, tried to appeal to the singer’s long journey (he’s been singing since the age of 10) and described how her varied experiences in the music business could be a benefit. Blake pitched Kawan, but didn’t go in for the kill.
The back and forth felt like a set up for Adam. But you’ll have to tune in TONIGHT when The Voice Blind Auditions return to NBC to find out which coach Kewan chose. We’ll be live blogging! Join us.
