Kelly Clarkson taped her NBC Christmas special at the Venetian in Las Vegas last night. The show is set to air on December 11. Mark your calendars!
The special, titled Kelly Clarkson’s (Cautionary) Christmas Tale. is based loosely on Charles Dickens’ classic novel “A Christmas Carol” and features songs from her new Christmas album, Wrapped in Red.
Kelly told Billboard magazine, ”I love [the Will Ferrell movie] ‘Elf. I wanted to tell a real story, make a new classic, not just do some skits that aren’t really related.”
At the taping last night, Kelly performed “Blue Christmas,” “Wrapped in Red,” “Favorite Things,” “Run Run Rudolph,” and “Underneath the Tree.” Reba McIntyre and Trisha Yearwood joined Kelly for “Silent Night.” Blake Shelton filmed a sketch with Kelly earlier in the week.
A young girl, Morgan, read the story that ties the show’s theme together. After an intermission, Kelly came back out to perform a set of favorite hits including, “Stronger,” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Catch My Breath,” “Walk Away,” “Mr. Know It All,” “Miss Independent” and “Since U Been Gone.”
