Laine Hardy, the 2019 American Idol winner, promoted his new single “Memorize You” on The Bachelorette Monday night (July 5).
The Louisiana born singer had the perfect romantic song to use as a backdrop during the popular ABC dating show. In the scene, Bachelorette Katie Thurston just finished a romantic date with suitor Blake Moynes. The two hit it off so well, she offered him her date rose, which means he’ll stay in the running for at least another week.
The two cap off their date with a performance from Laine. Katie and Blake dance and makeout as Laine sings “Yeah, I know we just met but you’ve been in my head/Like a song since last night/Got your name at the bar, where you’re from, who you are/But what’s on my mind?”
The big backstory is that Blake competed for the hand of both Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams on last season’s show. Ultimately, he struck out with both. Setting his sights on Katie, he reached out to Tayshia who is co-hosting the current season. She invited him to meet Katie, who subsequently invited Blake to join the other Bachelors. Of course, the guys who have been on the show from the beginning are pretty mad!
As Laine performs the song, Katie namechecks Laine and declares that “Memorize You” was the perfect song for her and Blake.
