It was opening night at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday (June 21) that brought Glee star Lea Michele and Broadway favorite, Kristin Chenoweth together to sing “For Good” from the musical Wicked.
Kristin originated the role of Glinda on Broadway, while Lea performed the song, with the Wicked stage as backdrop, on Glee as a duet with Chris Colfer.
Although Kristin never performed a Wicked song for Glee, she did guest star on several episodes–the latest was Season 5’s 100th episode celebration–as the drunken, lovable, but talented would-be singer, April Rhodes.
In her introduction, Lea thanks Kristin for an email she sent to her last summer after the death of Lea’s co-star and boyfriend, Cory Monteith. She wrote that “music will heal everything.” Lea couldn’t “get how that would be possible” at the time. “But it really did,” she says.
Watch their beautiful duet below. Not gonna lie. I get goosebumps and tear up every time I hear this song performed.
