Leona Lewis arrives at the 2014 Lifeball over the weekend
Leona Lewis and Simon Cowell’s company, SYCO, have parted ways. According to the Metro, the XFactor UK season 3 alum was dropped after her Christmas album Christmas, With Love only sold 100,000 copies.
Leona had a massive hit in the US in 2008 with “Bleeding Love.” The song hit #1 on the Billboard 100, Hot Digital Songs and Hot Adult Contemporary tracks charts.
In a statement, Leona announced she was moving on to another record label
‘After seven incredible years at Sony I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to sign to perhaps the most iconic label of all, Island Records,’ she announced in a statement, insisting she was moving somewhere ‘where artists can really flourish and are encouraged to express themselves’.
Simon tweeted goodbye and congratulations earlier today:
Congratulations Leona. We had 7 great years together and now wish you all the best for the future. You put X Factor on the map. X
