The Voice and BGT Alum Loren Allred stuns the AGT Fantasy League audience with a new version of “Never Enough”
America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League continues on to the third Qualifier episode on Monday (Jan 15). Featured in the competition will be singer Loren Allred who previously competed on Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice. NBC just dropped a preview of her audition.
She’s a voice many people have heard, but a face not many have seen. That’s because Loren sang “Never Enough” for The Greatest Showman movie soundtrack, but actress Rebecca Ferguson lip-synced to the track for the 2017 movie. Many assume it’s Ferguson singing the song, when it’s actually Loren.
“Never Enough” is one of Simon Cowell’s favorite songs from a movie he truly loves. Thirty-four year old Loren wants to step out front and show America the singer who sang THAT song. On Britain’s Got Talent in 2022, judge Amanda Holden sent her straight to the semi-finals with her Golden Buzzer. Unfortunately, voters eliminated Loren in 9th place at the finals.
Now, she hopes to kick start her career in America on AGT. As she did on BGT, Loren will perform “Never Enough” but mentor Simon promises she’ll perform the song in a brand new way nobody has heard before.
The performance opens with an a cappella vocal and proceeds with a slowed down arrangement backed by classical instruments including a string section and a harp. The slow build allows the singer to tell a dramatic story, hitting big notes on the final chorus. She hits her biggest note as the backing instruments drop out. The audience gives her a standing ovation.
Howie Mandel says, “Wow. That’s amazing that such great talent is so not known and behind the scenes.” He compliments Simon for bringing Loren to the forefront. Heidi Klum says, “How lucky are all of us right now that we got to witness this live right in front of our eyes. It was just absolutely beautiful. Mel B. is at a loss for words. She says, “That is just amazing what you can do. I’m blown away.”
“That was honestly spectacular,” says Simon. “To have that moment almost taken away from you. No one knows it was you. And now you’ve got the guts to come back on this show and tell America ‘this is me’ is so special.” He hopes that America gets behind her and gives her the break that he believes she deserves.
Loren confesses that she was more comfortable singing behind the scenes, until now. “I’m ready,” she says, “I’m here and thank you for giving me this opportunity.”
Back in 2012, Loren competed on The Voice season 3 on Team Adam Levine, but left the competition at the live Playoffs.
AGT: Fantasy League airs on NBC on Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT.
