It’s not often we get The Masked Singer spoilers, but this one is a doozy.
According to Deadline, Former New York City Mayor and former president Donald Trump pal Rudy Giuliani was unmasked after being eliminated in a taping last week. Season 7 has been filming episodes, and according to Deadline, Giuliani was unmasked during the first episode. Yes, it’s pretty shocking for even FOX to cast a guy one one of their reality shows as divisive and democracy destroying as Giuliani.
But get this! As soon as he was unmasked, panelists Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke quickly left the stage in protest. Oh boy.
FOX has cast controversial political figures on The Masked Singer before. The show unmasked former Vice-presidential candidate, governor of Alaska, and Covidiot, Sarah Palin as The Bear in season 3. If Robin and Ken had any thoughts, And I’m sure they did! The two played along anyway.
But the problem with Giuliani is how he aided and abetted Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election, pretty much trashing his reputation as “America’s Mayor.” Trump and his allies have never offered evidence that the election was stolen from him. But still, they persisted. Who could forget Giuliani, in front of the cameras at a press conference lying about voter fraud while makeup ran down his face. And also, there is his surreal press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping four days after the election. Oh. And THIS.
Deadline isn’t spoiling Giuliani’s costume or song choice
Deadline is not revealing the costume Giuliani wore. The site also reports that while Ken and Robin exited (they eventually returned), fellow judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger remained onstage. They bantered with Giuliani.
It’s worth noting that Deadline spoiled Giulini as a contestant, but no details about his costume or what he sang. Would an entertainment website like Deadline post spoilers without the blessing of FOX, jeopardizing their access? It’s possible that Masked Singer producers gave Deadline the scoop hoping to create buzz before the show’s premiere. Cool, cool. Actually, not cool at all.
The Masked Singer season 7 premieres Wednesday, March 9, at 8 pm ET/PT featuring the theme, the Good, The Bad and the Cuddly.
