On Friday night’s (Sept. 16) Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, guest Miley Cyrus performed a quirky rendition of Odetta’s 1965 Bob Dylan cover “Baby, I’m in the Mood for You” with the Roots.
Earlier on the program, Miley told Jimmy said that it was former The Voice coach Pharrell who convinced her to join the show as a coach this season. “He’s like me — wouldn’t say it if he didn’t mean it,” she said, “You’re gonna really not be told by the producers and the directors what to do. None of that.”
“There’s nothing about it that is fake,” Miley insisted.
At one point in the performance, Miley called out Jimmy for ruffling Donald Trump’s hair, as if her were some harmless old grandpa, earlier in the week when the Republican candidate was a guest on the show.
Check out the performance right here and join us for The Voice premiere as we live blog the NBC show beginning at 8 pm ET on Monday September 19.
