Pop singer Miley Cyrus dropped by the NBC Today show this morning (9/16) to chat about her new role as a coach on the upcoming 11th season of The Voice, and more.
“I’m the one that cries all the time,” she told Today. She says that mentoring artists on The Voice is part of her “philanthropic life.”
In a preview clip, Dolly Parton, pops up on a screen to remind the hopefuls “You’ve just got to pick Miley because she’s my Goddaughter!” Dolly really is! One of the narratives this season will be Miley giving veteran coach Blake Shelton serious competition in terms of wooing country singers to her team.
“The greatest thing about The Voice is we get to show people all different sides of us–our music knowledge beyond our genre,” said Miley. “I’ve been really lucky because…I think I have the most diverse team…I have country, and pop. I have a little bit of everything–very genre-fluid and very open and very cool.”
