Four milestones to close out the month of August for the Monday Morning Mediabase Memo.
There are three milestones on the Country chart this week. The highest milestone is from Season 10 Idol Winner Scotty McCreery. “You Time” is his latest single to hit top 5 on the chart. He may take a while to get there, but Scotty’s songs typically ring the top bell especially since he has been with Triple Tigers. “You Time” is from Scotty’s upcoming album “Same Truck”. Carrie Underwood, Season 4 Idol winner, sees her collaboration with Jason Alden “If I Didn’t Love You” go top 15. This is a song from Jason’s album. Finally, we see the repentant Morgan Wallen leap up the chart as his “Sand in My Boots” which debuted last week hits top 40 this week. (every time I read that title I think “There’s a snake in my boot!”) This single is from his “Dangerous: The Double Album” (which tumbles to 9th on the BB200 album chart this week with 42K in equivalent sales (-2% from last week)).
The only non-Country song making a milestone this week is Normani’s “Wild Side”. The song features Cardi B and may be the debut single for Normani’s upcoming album. The song goes top 15 on Urban while also being top 30 on Pop and Rhythmic.
Meanwhile, Jordan Smith’s “Great You Are returns to the top 40 on CAC.
