Monday Morning Mediabase 11/28/2022

An impressive 11 Milestones arriving after the Thanksgiving Weekend with three artists achieving two or more.

Christmas songs continue to make ground and we get five milestones from them on the AC chart. Katherine McPhee from Idol Season 5 teamed up with her producer (and Idol Mentor) David Foster on a Christmas album this year. So far, they have released “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” as singles to radio. JBR was released a few weeks ago and is now top 15 while RRNR was just released and debuted this week in the top 40.

Perennial Christmas stars Pentatonix from The Sing Off are collaborating this year with Meghan Trainor and their all new “Kid on Christmas” is top 15. It can be tough for new songs to break out as most charting Christmas songs are covers (we love our Christmas chestnuts roasting on an open fire). Idol’s Olivia Rox also has an original with “Cold Toys” entering the top 20. AGT and DTWS’s Lindsey Stirling also gets top 20 with her cover of “Joy to the World”.

Morgan Wallen from The Voice earns a rare Christmas miracle achieving a milestone on AC with a non-Christmas song during the Christmas season. “Wasted on You” was a previous number one on Country and now returns to the AC format and achieves top 40. The song also achieves a milestone on HAC as it enters the top 15. Morgan is not finished achieving milestones as he gets his third this week on his home format with “Thought You Should Know” going top 20. That song has achieved a milestone every week of its release.

“Thought You Should Know” is from his TBA album, but “Wasted on You” is from “Dangerous: The Double Album” which is top 5 on the BB200 this week. The album is up one spot and 2% in equivalent album sales to 42K. Harry Style’s “Harry’s House” is also in the top 10 at 8th up one spot and 10% from last week with 33K in equivalent album sales.

Jax from Idol achieves two milestones as well this week. “Victoria’s Secret” started as a viral hit and continues to prove to be a radio hit as well. “Victoria’s Secret” climbed into the top 5 on HAC this week while debuting on Rhythmic.

Finally, for an fifth week, Colton Dixon holds the top of the CAC chart with his charity single “Build a Boat”

Also worth mention is AGT’s Drake Milligan who entered the Country chart last week with “Sounds Like Something I’d Do”. Drake appeared on AGT this year where he finished third. He had previously auditioned for Idol in 2018, but decided to withdraw. Thanks to Amy Beth for noting his arrival in the comments last week.
