Just one Milestone to report for this last Monday Morning Mediabase Memo of the decade.
With Christmas falling mid-week, the charts are a little static. For half the week, radio turned to Christmas songs and for the other half of the week they returned to their regularly scheduled format. That meant a lot of lost bullets. On Country radio, only one song has a bullet this morning. With this week featuring New Years and the end of a decade, expect to hear a lot of “Best of the Decade” countdown shows which also hurts the spins for new songs.
The biggest movements this week are on AC which goes hard for Christmas songs starting at the beginning of the month. This means that all the current songs have already lost spins earlier and get a big rebound as soon as Christmas is over. We see Normani’s “Dancing with a Stranger” return to the top 10 and Niall Horan’s “Nice to Meet You” return to the top 40. We see all the Christmas songs take a big tumble. CAC also features tumbling Christmas songs.
On Pop, we see our only milestone. Camila Cabello’s latest single from her “Romance” album is titled “My Oh My” and features DaBaby. The song vaults onto the Pop chart almost landing in the top 40 (41st this week). This is the sixth single from the album (7th if you count “Señorita” which is on both Shawn’s album and “Romance”), but many of those were buzz singles not sent to radio.
