Two milestones this week, in the same format, from the same reality competition singing show family.
First up is American Idol Season 10 winner, Scotty McCreery. “See You Tonight” has generally made a slog of getting milestones, but it fairly flew from top 15 to top 10. Usually, the distance between those two milestones is large and one has to wait for each song to have a turn at first and to fall back (while hoping one doesn’t get passed by a faster moving song). But, a combination of luck, timing and a couple of weeks of large spincreases and Scotty has bridged the gap. It will be interesting to see if the label decides to make a run at top 10 or moves onto the next single. “See You Tonight” is a relatively ancient for a song not on AC. I do hope the label is ready to go with a second single once they decide this one is finished.
Meanwhile, Lucy Hale, one of five winners of the first season of American Juniors has her first song on the Country chart. “You Sound Good to Me” debuts at 50th. American Juniors was a singing competition for the younger set that was created by the folks behind American Idol, but it only ran for one season.
