Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Jan 9-15

We have a whopping 12 milestones to celebrate this week.

Carrie Underwood tops the Country charts yet again with “Dirty Laundry”. “Dirty Laundry” is the American Idol’s 4th single from her fifth studio album, “Storyteller”, released in 2015. As usual, she continues her winning ways.

Lauren Alaina was the runner up from Season 10 of Idol and she too is on the Country format. Her “Road Less Travelled” has achieved top 15 for Country Airplay. I believe this is the first time she has gone top 15 on the radio.

Original recipe Idol Kelly Clarkson achieves two milestones this week. She isn’t currently promoting an album, but has a track on the “Hamilton Mixed Tape”. “It’s Quiet Uptown” has achieved top 30 on HAC and debuted on the AC chart this week.

Also from Idol, we have Season 8’s Danny Gokey. Danny Gokey has a successful career in the Christian Music genre and his latest single “Rise” has risen to top 10 on CAC. The single shares its name with his album which was released on Friday.

Jasmine Murray is also from Idol’s Season 8 and also on CAC. Her debut single “Fearless” moves into the top 30.

Moving over to the X-Factor franchise, we have Camila Cabello. She was on the US version and was one of five girls formed into a group called Fifth Harmony from which she has recently split. Her duet called “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly has gone top 5 on Pop while also being top 5 on Rhythmic and top 40 on HAC.

Across the pond from the UK version and also from a former band are Zayn and Niall. Niall Horan’s debut single goes top 15 on HAC. “This Town” is top 15 on Pop and HAC and top 40 on AC. Zayn is dueting with Taylor Swift on the latest Fifty Shades soundtrack and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” went top 10 on Pop and top 30 on Rhythmic this week. It is also top 15 on HAC and top 40 on AC.

James Arthur won the British X-Factor competition in Season 9 and Simon wants him to be more successful than Niall (Niall signed with another label). This week his “Say You Won’t Go” debuted on Pop. It continues in the top 50 on AAA and top 30 on HAC.

Also from the UK is Calum Scott. He was on Simon’s other show, BGT. His cover of “Dancing on My Own” went top 40 on Pop. It is already top 40 on HAC and top 15 on AC.
