NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy is OUT.
This, less than a week after NBC launched an investigation into claims that Telegdy fostered a toxic culture at the network. That report, from The Hollywood Reporter, came weeks after former America’s Got Talent judge Gabrielle Union filed suit against NBC alleging that Teledgy threatened her during NBC’s investigation of workplace abuse on the AGT set. According to Gabrielle, Teledgy warned that she better watch who she calls a racist.
However, it looks like some type of shakeup was in the works with NBCUniversal’s TV structure anyway. CEO Jeff Shell recently shook up the news division. TV was next.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company is shifting from a vertical reporting structure to what it dubs as a horizontal one, with Frances Berwick now charged with leading a new Entertainment Business unit that gives her oversight of programming strategy and content across all the TV entertainment networks.
As a consequence of the restructure, Teledgy is leaving the company. Additionally, NBC Universal will not fill his role. The company will still continue the investigation into the allegedly toxic culture he fostered at the network. But with Telegdy conveniently out of the picture, will the network continue the investigation with real intent, or will they wrap it up quickly with perfunctory results?
