New Year’s Eve 2023 on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN. Who is performing and how to watch

For those of you who will be by a television tonight on New Years Eve as 2023 is ushered in, there are a bunch of choices to watch on television. Each show offers hosts, coverage in separate time zones and musical guests. Some bring the hijinks, some not so much! It’s all about how YOU would like to be entertained on New Years Eve. Lets get started!

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2023

New Years shows tend to have impossibly long names! The long-running ABC special contains two names in the title. Dick Clark started it all in the early 70s to be an alternative to the stodgy Guy Lombardo special on CBS. And it’s been helping to bring folks into the new year ever since!

Out of all the shows, New Year’s Rockin’ eve grabs the highest ratings. Even after Dick Clark’s stroke in the early aughts, and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest stepped in to help and eventually take over, the show has remained a favorite.

Every year, ABC tries to bring something new to the table. For instance, for the first time, Disneyland in Anaheim will host several performances.

Ryan Seacrest and Liza Koshy will oversee the ball drop in Times Square, New York City. Jesse James Decker will oversee the big Powerball draw. LIVE performances include

Last year, Lorne Michaels grabbed the reins of the New Years Eve party from The Voice producers. Whoops! Instead of Carson Daly hosting featuring a bunch of The Voice adjacent superstars, the show features Miley Cyrus. Actually she coached on The Voice for a few seasons! But that’s not why Lorne hired her. She always brings the hijinks and un predictablity to her hosting gigs.

This year, she’s partnering with her Godmother, Dolly Parton. The two will host the show live from Miami, Florida.

Who is performing?

Musical guests include singer-songwriter FLETCHER, breakout rapper Latto, Los Angeles rock band Liily, viral hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd and chart-topping Sia.

Saturday Night Live’s Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman and comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy will also appear.

How to watch

The special airs from 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. ET and will also be livestreamed on Peacock.

CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live

CNN’s show, hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, has been earning a ton of headlines this week after Ryan Seacrest commented on Cohen’s drunken antics last year. CNN’s new boss declared no drinking during the broadcast, although Cooper and Cohen were allowed, but had to keep it non-crazy.

For awhile Andy shouted that nobody was going to keep him from celebrating on New Years Eve. But after this week’s round of headlines, the Bravo personality stated that he and Anderson would find other ways to celebrate that did not include knocking back alcohol.

Will fans want to watch a booze free CNN special? We’ll see!
